de Gournay

This wallpaper is a customized wallpaper design proposal for the Rosewood Shenzhen Hotel when Yang Yu was working full-time at de Gournay, inspired by the city of Shenzhen and the surrounding natural landscape, where city, sea and mountain views merge into one. Combining the texture and rhythm of traditional Chinese landscape painting, the design combines abstract and figurative motifs in a distinctly Deco style.
The wallpaper is crafted using two distinct techniques: Bas relief, a shallow relief method, and hand-painting on dyed silk, showcasing both artistic skill and cultural influence.
With Charbonnel & Walker, the United Kingdom’s first luxury chocolatiers, de Gournay’s hand painted expertise has for the first time been applied to a limited run of chocolate boxes – created in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort in May.
A Springtime bouquet of Lily of the valley, Forget Me Not, Foxglove, Honeysuckle, Morning Glory, Dog Rose and Crab Apple ornament each box lid in a splendid encirclement: hand painted onto a ground of Pine Green silk, with a Red Squirrel, Robin and Chaffinch depicted amidst Bumblebees and Butterflies.
